Andrew Jung
Research and Design for the People Who Use Your Systems
Andrew Jung has over 20 years of experience in web development, information architecture and user experience research and design. Over his career, he has architected and designed a diverse list of high-profile projects. Notables include the University of Victoria web redesign, and its campus-wide portal. He has conducted numerous research studies within the education community and has drawn upon his extensive contacts within the K-12 system to interview students, counsellors, and educators. His empathetic approach ensures that the true needs of the users are revealed and validated when usability testing prototype designs.
Through immersion and adaptive user-centered analysis, Andrew’s projects reach their key outcomes. His technical education and creative experience have been key to team bridging. Andrew collaborates sensible designs by removing disconnects and engaging enthusiasm in deliverables.
Andrew truly believes in bringing people together, be it in work or beyond. He has always been an educator at heart and is proactive in creating fertile ground for learning and sharing. Andrew has organized conferences, workshops and user groups to enhance day-to-day workplace interactions and is always eager to mentor and push others beyond their perceived limitations. Andrew organized a number of World IA Day conferences and is now serving as WIAD Director of Community & Events.
Andrew is an HFI Certified Usability Analyst (CUA™). CUAs demonstrate a clear understanding of research-based principles of designing interfaces from the perspective of the end user. They perform data gathering, task analysis, and usability testing and pinpoint usability problems and offer design solutions. The usability analyst brings the critical success factor to bear throughout the development life cycle, which is designing for the user.
